English Literary Renaissance (ELR), founded in 1971 and published in association with the Arthur F. Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is a leading peer-reviewed journal for research in Tudor and early Stuart literature (1485–1665). It covers authors such as Shakespeare, Spenser, Donne, and Milton, publishing critical essays, review essays in the “Recent Studies” series, and editions of rare manuscripts. ELR emphasizes innovative, historically grounded, and interdisciplinary scholarship, amplifying underrepresented voices and lesser-known early modern writers.
