Journal introduction:

Critique: Studies in Contemporary Fiction is a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to critical analyses of post–1950 fiction from across the globe. Founded in the 1950s and published five times annually by Routledge, it has a longstanding legacy of identifying and elevating emerging and established novelists—from early discussions of Bellow, Malamud, and Barth to contemporary examinations of global literary voices. The journal prioritizes rigorous, theoretically informed essays on literary fiction, short stories, graphic narratives, and digital fiction, welcoming interdisciplinary approaches to themes such as postcolonialism, gender, migration, politics, and modernism. It serves as a key forum for scholarly dialogue on innovative contemporary prose and critical frameworks for understanding modern narrative.
